The name is deliberate. Colosseum is the arena we are developing for cyber defenders to confront adversary tactics, expose weaknesses, and engineer stronger defenses for space missions.
The planned core unites a cyber range and a space range in one mission theater. Digital twins of spacecraft, communications, and ground infrastructure would let defenders trace mission effects, develop protections, and evaluate response options across connected systems.
Proactive defense and operations drive the program. Training, research, and technology evaluation serve that mission. The longer-term direction includes authorized intervention against active attacks.
LEGACY SPACE-SYSTEM MODERNIZATION

Spacecraft and ground infrastructure must remain effective as threats change. Colosseum is being developed to identify weaknesses, engineer practical protections, and support operator-authorized improvements to systems already in service. The objective is stronger defenses throughout the asset’s operational life.

That work is intended to span supported software and firmware updates, stronger ground-system defenses, and compensating protections where onboard upgrades are constrained.
Use the combined range to evaluate mission effects and support controlled implementation. Testing provides the evidence; evolving the defense is the objective.
